After Qualcomm’s recent unveiling of its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, MediaTek, a key competitor, has now introduced its own flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9300. This new processor succeeds the Dimensity 9200/9200+ and brings a multitude of enhancements and changes to the table. It is anticipated to power high-end smartphones from various manufacturers. Let’s delve into the technical details of the Dimensity 9300.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC Specifications

The Dimensity 9300 is manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge third-generation 4nm process. Its core configuration includes a primary Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.25GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores operating at 2.0GHz. Notably, both single-core and multi-core performance have seen improvements of 15% and 40%, respectively. The chipset is equipped with an Immortalis-G720 GPU, boasting a 46% increase in hardware-based ray tracing performance compared to its predecessor.

MediaTek has also collaborated with game developers to optimize ray tracing in games, promising an immersive visual experience. Additionally, the processor incorporates an APU 790 for formidable AI processing capabilities.

Display-wise, the Dimensity 9300 can handle a WQHD display resolution at 180Hz and 4K at up to 120Hz. On the photography front, it is compatible with camera sensors of up to 320MP and offers always-on HDR video recording at up to 4K resolution with 60fps, as well as 4K at 30fps with cinematic mode. The processor includes an Imagiq 900 ISP and supports the Ultra HDR format in Android 14. In terms of hardware, it boasts support for LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4 storage technology.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 comes with WiFi-7 featuring integrated Xtra Range Technology for extended long-range connectivity. It also supports sub-6GHz, mmWave, 5G, 4×4 MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Vivo’s upcoming X100 series is confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor, and it is expected to be present in the standard X100 variant.
