Fitbit has introduced the latest addition to its wearable lineup, the Fitbit Charge 6, which comes with several notable upgrades in health tracking capabilities and deeper integration with Google applications such as YouTube Music, Google Pay, and Google Maps.
The Fitbit Charge 6 boasts a 1.04-inch color AMOLED display with Always-On Display (AOD) functionality. The device features a sleek build composed of aluminum, glass, and resin, complete with a haptic side button for easy controls.
One of the standout features of the Charge 6 is its enhanced heart rate tracking, thanks to an updated optical sensor coupled with new electrical sensors and machine learning algorithms developed by Google. This advancement promises heart rate measurements that are “60% more accurate” compared to its predecessor. Moreover, users can seamlessly connect the tracker to exercise machines, providing real-time heart rate data during workouts.
In addition to heart rate monitoring, the Charge 6 also tracks blood oxygen (SpO2) levels and offers ECG functionality to detect any irregularities in your heart rate rhythm, such as atrial fibrillation. It provides comprehensive tracking for sleep patterns, stress levels, skin temperature, and breathing rate. Fitbit has included support for over 40 exercise modes, along with the ability to measure VO2 max. The device is also water-resistant up to 5 ATM, making it suitable for swimming, and it features built-in GPS and GLONASS tracking.
Google’s influence on the Charge 6 extends beyond health features, as it introduces support for controlling YouTube Music and accessing Google Maps with turn-by-turn directions directly on the screen. Additionally, the NFC receiver enables convenient Google Wallet payments. The device boasts a commendable battery life rating of up to 7 days with regular usage.
The Fitbit Charge 6 is available in three attractive colors: Obsidian, Coral, and Porcelain. It is priced at $160/€160/£140, and pre-orders can be made through the official Fitbit website. The tracker is also expected to be available soon in the Fitbit India market.
